I heard from a very reliable friend that Michael Cerveris will be playing George Balanchine this season! This seems like very inspired casting. Does anyone have any more details about the cast or the play? I assume this is the Richard Nelson-David Cromer play at Lincoln Center:

I would see Michael Cerveris in anything. What a fantastic actor, not to mention the fact that I find him extremely attractive. I think he will be a fantastic Mr. B!

I heard a while ago that this was a possibility; I would love for it to have worked out! So, yes please.

Adore Cerveris. Will see him in anything. This seems a poor fit.

Does he have any ballet background? Depending on what stage of Balanchine's life this is, it might only slightly matter as bythe time of the NYCB he basically just did the old ballet master thing of standing and marking the steps, but he still had that perfect ballet posture, port de bras, etc
