I just wanted to let anyone who cares know that Drood has some understudies going on for the leads over the next couple weeks. Alison Cimmet will be on for Puffer on February 5th and 6th, and on for Helena February 27th through March 2nd. She actually is on for Helena tonight, no idea if Jessie Mueller will be out for long.
Also, Stephanie J. Block will be out of the show on February 8th, 9th, and 10th, which incidentally is also Andy Karl and Betsy Wolfe's final performance.
Would love to hear how they are if anyone has a chance to see them!
There seems to be so few swings in drood, is it possible for two people with one understudy who covers both of them to be out on the same night?
For example, i'm seeing drood on the 5th and chita will be out, so allison will be on. Is it possible that jessie could be out on the same night? or since they share an understudy would she have to preform?
Reason being, i really want to make sure i see Jessie in the show.
I saw Drood earlier this month and Alison Cimmet was on as Puffer. Since I had seen the show in the fall with Ms. Rivera, I must admit that I was fondly remembering her performance during this second viewing. Cimmet's acting and voice were both quite good but I felt she was too young for the role--especially during her Act Two scene with Rosa Bud. Rivera's sheer presence and unbelievable energy makes for a fantastic Puffer, however, Cimmet slipping into the role doesn't make the show any less enjoyable because the entire cast is so incredibly strong. I could see this over and over again! But always from the front row, of course, Kelly2!

Do you mean Betsy Wolfe (Rosabud)? I agree Cimmit is a little too young, but to be fair, Chita is way too old, and miscast at that. She pulls it off, 'cause hey, she's Chita, but still...
Just to offer another opinion, I thought Alison Cimmet was hilarious and found a lot of comedy in different parts than Chita did. A different performance but a very funny and well-sung in it's own right. I was definitely glad to see her, though I can completely understand (obviously) people preferring to catch Chita.
