"Nevermind finebydesign, he/she is a nasty piece of work. amanda seyfried would be APPALLED he/she is using her photo as an avatar."
CarlosAlberto, it would be nice to see he/she step up and explain his/her hatred of a show that hasn't even had its first preview yet. He/she claims to be rational, but the vitriol of the posts are completely irrational. Maybe the show will flop, but can't we at least expect it to open before predicting this degree of failure? To me it just seems so personal. Very cowardly, in my opinion.

Hating the show and assuming it will tank at the box office are two different things. I do not hate the show, frankly I think it was really great television. I love the idea of updating and adapting it. I can't wait to see what see what changes have been made.
That all said, I cannot understand why it is opening on Broadway. It seems like a HUGE financial risk and the "family show" competition is pretty tough right now. I don't think this show belongs on Broadway nor do I believe they can sell tickets for $137.
FINEBYDESIGN is just a negative nellie. ive seen her posts on other threads and all she does is criticize with nothing to back her up, like shes some sort of expert. kinda sad this is how she gets her kicks.

Maybe. But you don't have to be an expert to predict a Broadway show will fail because statistically most do, so you would likely be right just to blindly guess it would fail, lol. And I do think the show might have an uphill climb with a very large theatre to fill, competition and no stars.
"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022)
"Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009)
"Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000
