It seems like a good fit for Disney theatricals. It's got the ingenious of Lion King and a sort of "Batman Begins" type story line. I think with a real score, it could have been super successful.
I wonder if school troupes will be allowed to deviate from using only one female performer.
I can't imagine why they wouldn't be...this show could definitely be done in schools and I'm sure they would want to make the money that would bring in. Plus I'm pretty sure the female cover for Molly on Broadway is also a cover for Mrs. Bumbrake, but I could be wrong.
My sense of it is that schools are really itching to get their hands on this property. I have created posters for no less than 3 high school productions of Peter Pan this fall which are going for the same aesthetic (simplified stagecraft, improvisational feel, characters playing multiple parts, etc.). Because "Starcatcher" isn't available yet, they're taking on the earlier work. When it becomes available for licensing, I think you are going to see it everywhere.
