Well...his action was to stop defending DOMA in court. He really can't do anything more than that. It's either Congress or the Court that needs to address this on some sort of Federal level.
I just texted my mom (who had a HARD time when I came out and with whom I had a bit of a strained relationship for years) and said that the president just came out in support of marriage equality. She responded with, "YAY!!!!" That meant more to me that what Obama said.
Pretty pretty please don't you ever ever feel like you're less than f**ckin' perfect!
As someone who recently became engaged, this means a lot to me. Bravo, Mr. President. It's about damn time, but better late than never.
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

Wow...I am amazed he had the balls to say this at this time. This is something after what happened in NC.
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
I vowed I wasn't going to donate any money to any presidential campaigns ever again. I dunno. I guess today would be a day to do it.
Last week I attended a reading of "8: The Play" starring Gavin Creel and there was a great talk-back that included the director of Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders (the original, meaningful GLAD) and he was saying we have to contribute to help out in Maine, too. I guess today might be a good day to do that, too.
It's about time, but I'm proud of our President. That is a huge step in a politically tumultuous time. He is taking a big risk and I appreciate his doing so. I'm happy to say that I also sent in a donation to his campaign this afternoon.
And its gonna be fun to see how groups like 1 million moms , and such deal with this

I love this tweet from Cory Booker: "Giambusso from The Ledger asked me 4 a statement re: Obama & marriage equality. I told him I'd give him one as soon as I stopped dancing."

Damn, the bigots are really going nuts over this. Obama ruined it for them and they can't even gloat over Amendment One now.
