As big a Sondheim fan as I and most of the posters here are, the last thing I'd want to see is ol' Stephen being murdered onstage in his own show.
But on reflection, I'd agree with Jordan-- there's something delicious about the ITW cast that's been run ragged all night finally taking revenge on their creator. A twist of which Pirandello would be proud.

Posted: 10/9/11 at 8:24pmUmmm...the narrator's death isn't gruesome or anything. It's funny. The fact that they'd break the fourth wall to throw the guy telling the story to the giant is hilarious, and with it not only being the narrator, but the creator of the show, it would be hysterical. Plus, as stated, there's still the Mysterious Man. I'd love to hear Sondheim sing "No More" with Chip Zien. Talk about a musical nerdgasm! Not only that, but it would make the show an even bigger draw and worth watching, IMO.

One of my favorite shows ever.
To see Sondheim himself as the Narrator/Mysterious Man at an anniversary celebration would be... just... wow.
Bernie, Joanna and Chip together again. Another amazing thought.

Kay McClelland seems to have returned to her home town of Atlanta and semi-retired. Her last NYC credit was standing by for Donna Murphy (and later Faith Prince) in the KING AND I revival around 1997.
