Summer Program Includes Workshops, Master Classes with Broadway Performers, and culminating Showcase Performance Opportunity.

This July, Prospect Theater Company (Cara Reichel, Producing Artistic Director / Melissa Huber, Managing Director) launches a new education initiative for students aged 12-17. Beginning Monday, July 12 and running through Saturday, July 31, selected students will participate in a daily musical theater training program, from 10am-6pm (Mondays – Saturdays) at Theatre Row on 42nd St.

In keeping with Prospect Theater Company’s mission to support the next generation of musical theater artists, this summer program will be an opportunity for young performers with a passion for musicals to build their performance skills by working directly with Prospect artists on new material written expressly for teenagers. During the course of the three-week program, participants will work with a professional stage director and music director to rehearse and present a new musical revue, premiering original songs and monologues by some of New York’s most exciting emerging composers and lyricists.

In addition to culminating camp showcase performances of the revue, from July 24 - 31 on stage at the Kirk Theatre, students will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops and coaching sessions, as well as master classes with guest artists and Broadway performers, to deepen general knowledge of theater practice, strengthen vocal and acting technique, and enhance overall confidence.

Rolling admission to the program is by audition. To schedule an audition appointment, or for more information, please email Summer@ProspectTheater.org or call 212-594-4476. Participant tuition for the 3-week program is $750 per student.

Prospect Theater Company was founded in 1998 by five graduates of Princeton University. Over the past decade, Prospect has premiered more than twenty new American musicals, including Illyria, Evergreen, The Tutor, and The Blue Flower and is the artistic home of Award-winning writer Peter Mills (2010 Kleban Award for lyrics, 2007 Fred Ebb Award, 2002 Jonathan Larson Award, www.pcmills.com) and Cara Reichel (Prospect’s Producing Artistic Director, 2002 Lucille Lortel Award, www.carareichel.com). This summer, Prospect proudly presents John Gregor’s musical With Glee, directed by Igor Goldin, in the Kirk Theatre at Theatre Row, July 10 – August 1.
