When this musical was announced yesterday, Entertainment Weekly mentioned how 'Cinderella' is becoming the new 'Snow White' in the entertainment industry. However, what they do not realize however, is that Cinderella is NOT THE MAIN character in 'Into the Woods' even though she has an important part in the show.
I think it's interesting that the press release described Danielle as the daughter of a nobleman, while in the movie she is the daughter of a wealthy commoner. I wonder what other changes lie in store?

We must have different Gods. My God said "do to others what you would have them do to you". Your God seems to have said "My Way or the Highway".
"According to his blog, Tony Sheldon from Priscilla took part in a reading of this in October of last year along with Sierra, Roger Rees played the King, Beth Leavel played the stepmother, Ashley Spencer and Gwen Hollander played her daughters, Jessica Walter played the Queen. He posted many pictures from it as well. It looks quite promising"
Leavel an certainly play a Wicked Stepmother because she is very talented and she did get excellent reviews for playing another villainous character, Miss Hannigan in a regional production of 'Annie'. If Spencer read the role of Marguerite I think she can pull it off because she did a very good job of playing a spoiled brat before, Amber von Tussle in 'Hairspray'.
Who else wants a stage version of Slipper and the Rose on Broadway?
"The gods who nurse this universe think little of mortals' cares. They sit in crowds on exclusive clouds and laugh at our love affairs. I might have had a real romance if they'd given me a chance. I loved him, but he didn't love me. I wanted him, but he didn't want me. Then the gods had a spree and indulged in another whim. Now he loves me, but I don't love him." - Cole Porter
Tony is one of the nicest people I have ever met and an incredible performer. I'm torn on which I hope to see him do next. Ever After or The Priscilla Tour
I'd love to see the Slipper & The Rose on Broadway. It's been done regionally I believe

@Eric: What I understand is that Guare said to Guettel that they'd split the royalties 50-50, and Guettel responded with 1/3 each for book, lyrics and music. Guare refused, Guettel walked.
I saw the list yesterday, and I knew that Barrymore would be on the list. I think she did the accent perfectly, but others don't think she did. Oh well. SO excited for this musical!
