I suspect they are thinking the 'show' is the star - since that is how it has always been. They also aren't going to have to pay these performers 'star' salaries -- so the production, even if not a sell out, will likely be pretty profitable.

I still object to a Hawaiian playing a Puerto Rican just as much as I was 10 years ago. Aren't they any talented Latino actor/dancers around to play "Paul San Marco"?
outside of Bryan & Lynch, these are likely the Broadway names attached to the show. It's only 9 out of 19 roles announced so I'd be willing to bet Zach, Cassie, Richie & Diana will be their big names. Other roles not announced: Bebe, Bobby, Don, Kristine, Al & Judy.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Jason Tam works for me too. He was great in the last Bway revival as Paul, but nothing came close to his amazing audition for the role of Paul in the documentary Every Little Step. That was an audition for the ages.
Mara Davi and Jason Tam were absolutely brilliant in the 2006 revival. Fairchild will make an excellent Mike. I'm excited to hopefully see this on my first CA visit this summer!

Pleasantly surprised that most of these are Broadway actors. Not a fan of Lynch (I find him wooden as an performer), but I think Sabrina will be great in it.
Is anyone surprised? Hollywood Bowl is community theatre for stars, with Broadway jobbers filling the ensemble. And what we've seen so far has been, more or less, ensemble roles. The leads are to be determined.
Traditionally, the 'LEAD' roles in ACL have been considered: Cassie, Zach, Sheila, Paul, Diana and Val. During the original Broadway production, at least, those were the roles that got all the press coverage (creating some animosity from the other cast members).
At any rate, the casting for Sheila, Val and Paul seems first rate. We'll see who they end up with for Zach and Cassie. I would think Zach would be the one role they could actually get a star name for, since that character doesn't necessarily have to sing or dance.

I just knew Mario Lopez would be playing Zach. DAMN!!! And his wife Courtney is playing Kristine. Also, Krysta Rodriquez is Diana & Sarah Bowden is Cassie. Bowden recently played Cassie in Germany this year. Roles still not announced: Bobby, Richie, Don, Al, Bebe & Judy. Suprised they couldn't get a name for Cassie. Or it could be no "names" that audition could play the part.

I kind of suspect when it comes to name casting at the Hollywood Bowl it's mostly a situation of offer only. And frankly the only name I can think of that they likely would have felt confident making an offer, sight unseen, to for Cassie is Julianna Hough. I rather doubt they had a big roster of names coming in to audition for that part. Most Broadway dancers fight for the stamina to do her big number, it's highly unlikely a name who isn't an everyday dancer would be up for it.

I wonder if not for SHE LOVES ME if Krakowski could pull of playing Cassie?

I wonder when the other 6 roles will be announced? Don't they start rehearsals soon?

Judging by this post, Judy Turner will be played by Los Angeles's Carrie U/S Tiana Okyoe. The post also states they have completed a full run through as of Saturday.
maybe they got a bunch of local actors to fill the remaining 6 roles.
