It still is, though. Many shows overseas sell well when they have the "Direct from Broadway!" label attached, a la Wildhorn shows such as Dracula and Jekyll & Hyde. You can't really say that about any other theatre districts, except perhaps when one advertises a new show on Broadway as a hit from the West End. (Which, these days, doesn't necessarily sell a show very well anyways.)

To Hogans I am glad you think so but sky high prices and shows closing before they;re time have done more to knock it off the pinnacle then anything else many here would say Wildhorn is the Boogie man here but not the wife and I we have enjoyed his shows more than the reviewers who always have it in for his shows cue the pitchforks

I think New York theatre IS the pinnacle of new musicals in the world (including Broadway and off-Broadway). No other city is even close to competing, including London. And I say this as a dual Australian/British citizen (I.e., I'm not a patriotic American).

I understand that prices seem "sky high" but you cannot ignore the fact that attendance is currently the highest ever. And I can't think of any shows that closed "before their time" although I can think of several that closed long after their time or that are still running even though logic and common sense would have put their sets on the curb a while ago. Certainly shows have closed before you (and I) would have liked, but for the life of me I can't imagine how that reflects on Bradway's status in the world.

I used to think the dictionary monopolized the definitions of words, but I guess other heads prevail...
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.

One thing I do like more about the West End is, I can grab a day ticket for 20 pounds or so. Sadly I can't do that on Broadway ( a rush does not count )
Well I didn't want to get into it, but he's a Satanist.
Every full moon he sacrifices 4 puppies to the Dark Lord and smears their blood on his paino.
This should help you understand the score for Wicked a little bit more.
