I have been listening to this recently. I love Veronique, Never, Our Private World, and Babette. Those are really the only songs I listen to, though. I was not really taken with this show at all when I saw it back in March. Don't get me wrong, the production (cast, set, costumes, etc.) were all perfect, but the show itself just didn't do much for me. Needless to say, the recording doesn't do much for me either except for the few songs I mentioned. Also, I am so disappointed that they cut the act 1 finale. Especially on a two dic recording.
"There’s nothing quite like the power and the passion of Broadway music. "
I think it's one of the best things I've listened to in a while and I've never seen the show or listened to the OBCR more than once or twice. This has to be the performance of Chenoweth's career. I haven't seen it, but her acting and singing on the recording are out of the world, just perfect.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Peter Gallagher was severely underrated in this performance. Kristin was wonderful and Andy was a hoot, but Gallagher was equally as impressive on his own.
i got a good deal on tickets to OTTC through TodayTix (use code RSDSI for $20 off) so i wasn't disappointed. Kristen sounded great, as did Peter Gallagher, but it wasn't in my top 10 list. Still i am happy to be able to listen to Our Private World on repeat.
