And I don't know when this will come out, this has been a on and off thing ever since the Broadway show opened. This could take as long as the Les Mis and POTO movies.
Forget the film: They've made that great novel Wicked into a stage musical? I must see this musical, but am surprised i have not read much about Wicked on the boards...
I'm not sure if you're joking or not, but the Wicked musical is a total reinvention of the novel. It's almost nothing like the book, so you've been warned.
Meet Galinda, who's got such nice blonde hair She tosses it back from here to there But, Elphie's only got the shade To match her skin - they're both like jade What a wicked scene. But they're cousins Identical cousins and you'll find They act alike They dance alike At times, they even sing alike You can hit a high C -ah When cousins Are both played by Lea
i was at an event a few years ago where the Wicked producer said they were definitely going to do a movie, but would wait for it until the box office needed a boost - and there was no indication it would be anytime soon.
The notion of delaying the movie adaptation until the Broadway box office needed a boost seems unlikely.
If the movie were to be a smash, it could make hundreds of millions. If Wicked sells out on Broadway, it makes a million a week minus however much it takes to keep it up and running.
They seem wholly unrelated. Not to mention, his comment presupposes this movie would be a hit, which is never guaranteed.
I don't get the point of the constant fan dream casting for this part or that. It has usually nothing to do with the eventual casting and, I've no doubt, zero influence on the people that make the casting decisions in the first place.
Jemjeb, everyone knows the dream casting most likely won't actually happen. But, like WickedGinger said, it's all in good fun, and fans enjoy discussing who they would like to see onscreen in some alternate universe, keeping in mind that the casting directors or whoever is in charge will probably not even read these "suggestions." You don't need to see the point because there is none; it's pure entertainment.
