In Travesties at WTF, the girl Cecily the Librarian threw off her shirt and started a table dance. Since I did not understand the play at all, I was just a tad bit confused on what was going on. Then, the two lead girls came out wearing Victorian dresses and did the singing part from "The Importance of Being Ernest" and suddenly, they took off the dresses to reveal undergarments and commenced to throwing Jello and Pie at each other and rolling around on the floor. Not nudity, but pretty close...

actually, i think LOVE VALOUR was mentioned very early on. The best nudity i saw on stage (tasteful, erotic, and then horrifying) was the Nation Theatre in London's production of BENT. That was when it was starring Ian McKellen. The Nazi was one of the most gorgeous men i had ever seen, like a blond viking. Then the throatcutting was center stage down front, and so realistic it scared me. i was actually relieved to be reassured at curtain call he hadn't been actually cut (not killed, but the blood seemed so natural starting that i was afraid he had been accidently nicked). Amazing effect. i will never forget it. i also thought the nudity in both FRANKIE & JOHNNY and TAKE ME OUT was right artistically and erotic.

The nudity not mentioned so far (perhaps because it is female?!?!) was WIT. That moment works like magic at the end of the play. And Judith Light showed "Who's the boss" by not backing out of it. Take that, Matthew B.

Will: They don't give out awards for helping people be gay... unless you count the Tonys. "I guarantee that we'll have tough times. I guarantee that at some point one or both of us will want to get out. But I also guarantee that if I don't ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for the rest of my life..."

David Burtka was indeed very naked in PLAY ABOUT THE BABY. I understand he was even often "very enthusiastic" in those scenes as my friend who had connections with the show told me. He certainly was the afternoon I saw it. His co-star Kathleen Early was also naked.

The reason Broderick had a body double in NIGHT MUST FALL was because the nude moment was added as a prologue for that production. The scene had the double naked in the rain. The real first scene with Broderick followed. If he had done it himself, there wouldn't have been enough time for him to dry off and get dressed for his entrance. He said at the time he wouldn't have minded doing the scene.

Regarding nudity, Matthew Broderick has also said, "If it was valid for the movie, I'd do it, but I just neve think it's valid." He also said the little bit of nudity he did do for "that awful movie" just wasn't worth it. Since then, it seems he's signed off on any future nudity.

That must be why the Latino character in LVC, Ramon was played by a cicumcised actor (as was the standby) as I saw them both. Randy Becker, actually Jewish and David Noroña.

No one has mentioned QUILLS. When it was done at Stages Repertory Theatre in 1997 in Houston, TX there was quite a bit a male nudity in that one. It opened the show if I remember correctly.

My family knew nothing about the show, and I was a young kid. It shocked me, but my 80 something great grandmother (sitting to my left) didn't mind it. The Marquis de Sade was played by William Hardy and she had fond memories of him from his appearances on Soap Operas. That conversation only made the situation more awkward.

Also, there is SPRING AWAKENING and RENT (the audience gets mooned). Then at a recent production of THE BEEBO BRINKER CHORNICLES in Houston the actor playing Charlie briefly bared all in front of the audience.
