Daniel Radcliffe has that nerdy awkwardness to him, passable good looks and is on the shorter side, he can carry a tune, reads late teens/early twenty on screen and has dancing abilities. He is the absolutely perfect fit for Boq in this although I can also see it going to Platt's son from Pitch Perfect.
Also Idina, Norbert and Kristin should appear in the birthing scene as Elphaba's parents and Midwife, it's the perfect sort of passing the torch to the new cast and gives all three of them a scene and song together.
Jordan Fisher as Fiyero, he has the boyish charm and look and Fiyero is supposed to be a person of colour."
While I do see almost everything filmed on green screens, I don't think much of the characters will need to be animated - if all, Chistery (and background monkeys) and Dillamond. Putting up a background isn't as lenghty as creating a CGI character.
Idina can only be the witch's mother. But go ahead and try to put Kristin as the midwife (as in, turn her into an animal). She'll burn the whole production.
Now that it Dorothy was mentioned here, I'm worried about the melting. Can they just copy and paste the one from 1939 movie (minus burning the actress)?

I don't think Kristin would necessarily have to be an animal in the scene just because the midwife in the play is. She could easily be played as human.
Yeah, this has definitely been a long time coming. The show has likely been waiting to pull out the movie version for as long as possible to extend good sales for the show and boost advance sales as late in the show's life as possible. This Everyday Broadway article touches on that point a bit: http://www.everydaybroadway.com/wicked-film-sets-gets-2019-release-date/
Carol Channing would be amazing as Madame Morrible, when Galinda and Elphaba show up at Shiz, she can ascend from a giant staircase rattling off all of the rules of the school. I do agree that they need to do the casting age appropriately, Idina and Kristin can only be in the film, if they do some kind of flash forward at the end of the film...

Was it only the print edition? I don't see it online.
Yes - print version (confirmed it was also in electronic version of the magazine in my Texture app)

If this movie stars Amanda Seyfried and Harry Styles I will not watch it. I mean I will, but I will do so begrudgingly. Harry Styles has never acted before from what I can tell, and Amanda was not great as Cosette, and fine as Sophie, and there are so many others that could play that part so well. Also, Marc Platt: Use nepotism and cast Ben as Boq. Please.
But seriously, I'd love to see Anna Kendrick as Elphaba (or Galinda, just cast her in this movie!), Ben Platt as Boq, Annaleigh Ashford as Galinda (to go the Broadway route) and Aaron Tveit as Fiyero.
Elphaba: Daisy Ridley Glinda: Emma Stone Fiyero: Ansel Elgort Nessarose: Isabelle Fuhrman Boq: Daniel Radcliffe Madame Morrible: Glenn Close or Angela Lansbury The Wizard: Kevin Kline Doctor Dillamond: Mark Rylance

I love Anna Kendrick (as my avatar would imply), but I don't think her voice is particularly right for Elphaba or Glinda.
I've had my heart set on her playing Nessarose for years though.
p.s. Andy just asked her this week on WWHL about playing Elphaba and she didn't say no - she basically just said she knows the entire show front and back and didn't say yes or no to his question.
I enjoyed the video of Anna singing For Good with Ms. Chenoweth, but I am not convinced that her voice is appropriate for the entire role. I do thoroughly enjoy her though, and I would be willing to hear her give it a shot.
Amanda Seyfried would probably fit Glinda well. She was out of her depth with Cosette and all that live singing warned her voice but Glinda could be a music role that she could do justice because she's a great comic actress.
Unless they're filming next year because special effects will be a bi*ch to create, someone can't be cast this early for a movie that's coming out in 2019.
EDIT: Found the article. Also reveals that Anna Kendrick is a top choice for Elphie.

This just reminded me of her role in mean girls! Now I would love her as Glinda.
