I don't think she got through that "admirably". Nothing about that was professional. Over her career she must have performed live thousands of times - through every kind of technical glitch, yet she managed to merely give a running commentary of complaints through one song and a half arsed mime through another. She could barely be bothered to be in the right positions for her dancers. But she does appear to be 'teflon' so see you next xmas Mariah..
^ I would call it admirable if she DIDN'T verbally rant throughout the performance. Why rant? Just keep shimmying, dancing, and pointing the microphone to the audience.
The story that I've always heard is that she's had nodules on her vocal cords since childhood, and the placement of these nodules and her ability to sort of sing around them is what gives her the signature "whistle" range notes.
However having such an incredible strain on her voice seems to be making it harder and harder for her to sing as she gets older.
Leave her alone. You're lucky she even performs for you bastards. LEAVE MARIAH ALONE RIGHT NOW! I mean it. Anyone who has a problem with her, you deal with me. *sobbing* LEAVE MARIAH ALONE!
She has a reality show on E!. Did you really think there wouldn't be any "drama" last night?
Well if the narrative her management told about her in ear monitors not working all night is true it really supports what happened and her behavior, especially the Seacrest interview. Many people who have played that gig have come forward to say that without the in-ear monitor you are deaf-you hear nothing due to the constant din of the screaming crowd.
If Mariah couldn't hear Seacrest due to him cutting out her short and erratic answers seem plausible. She didn't seem drunk-she seemed uncomfortable and anxious.
Also, I don't know how someone can sing into a vacuum of noise. Is it possible? I'm not a vocalist. Also, from the reports Mariah left a holiday as a favor to producers to perform which is what prompted her on stage quip that pissed so many people off.
Sadly, I think this is one of those "girl who cried wolf incidents" where Mariah's previous antics hurt any sympathies from the public. Just weeks prior she was running 90 minutes to 2 hours late for her Christmas shows in NYC and we all know about her princess ways. For some this just seemed like more. Most evidence points to her being on time and present but it seems to have hurt her.

I definitely agree that there is little sympathy left for Mariah after years of her (obvious) insecurity issues manifesting in all sorts of excuses for unprofessional (or just plain odd) behaviour. However these excises still doesn't really explain why she was unable to mime to the vocal lead vocal in any convincing way through when that was present, or why she DID manage to come in on time (and in key) when she did briefly sing to the sweatened BV track. In BOTH instances, as has been stated on here, the dancers seemed to have no problem being beat perfect using the onstage feedback.
I don't understand how her dancers remained on point without wearing in-ear monitors, if they could hear why couldn't Mariah? How would they even know when to start moving over the defeaning crowd?
She claims she did rehearse, but during the performance she said "we didn't have a check for this song..."
It's clear to me that she was pissy drunk. We all know Mariah loves her wine. I saw it as soon as she said to the dancers "just walk me down..."
In the grand scheme of things it's really not that big a deal. I think she would have just been better off leaving it with the "$tuff happens" tweet
I still believe this was all staged for her reality show.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
Mariah Carey just became the latest victim on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce confirmed to E! News the singer's star was vandalized on Monday night as someone drew a question mark at the end of her name with an ink marker or pen. Instagram fan account SirenofLa caught a photo of it.
We're told the star was already fixed as of Tuesday morning, which TMZ reports costs nearly $1,500. Now, the Los Angeles Police Department is searching for the suspect as vandalism is a felony.
