"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)
I've had the chance to see both in performance: Boyd Gaines (in Gypsy) and Davis Gaines (as Anthony in the San Francisco Symphony production of "Sweeney Todd" in SF in 2001. His vocals are beyond belief!

Made me wonder what's next for Esparza. Anyone know?
Between SVU and Hannibal and the demanding schedule that comes with being a regular on a 25+ episode season, he can't really honor any theater commitments. So, more of that for now.
The article also states (incorrectly) that Esparza has not created a role on Broadway. It may not have lasted very long, but he did create Jonas Nightingale in LEAP.
Hugh Jackman Back on Broadway may not have been a book show, but it certainly was musical. They should have reinstituted the Best Theatrical Event Tony category.
I don't think that list has changed in a few years.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
