I am hoping Martha Plimpton will get a nomination. I suspect Jennifer Ehle has a better chance, maybe Amy Irving? Are they all in the featured actress category? (I would imagine so, but so often the nominations don't make sense...) I have no sense of a front-runner this year for the featured actress in a play category. I'm certain there will be major snubs in category after category, since there are more than 5 possible nominees in most categories... who do you think will get featured actress in a play nominations?

They are all considered featured. The enitre cast of Utopia is considered featured except for Brian F. O'Byrne. Of those 3 women you listed, I think only Jennifer Ehle will get a nomination. The category is so crowded this year. I am hoping Jennifer Ehle wins because she gives what is, in my opinion, the best performance by a woman in a play this year, featured or leading (except for maybe Julie White, who is simply hysterical). She will definitely be nominated. Amy Irving will definitely not be nominated, and Martha Plimpton may have a shot at a nomination if the nominating committee 1) finds other female performances of the year uninteresting or 2) forgets people like Lily Rabe and Laila Robbins in shows like Heartbreak House earlier this year.

If anything, it'll be Ehle. And I second bjh's comments.

Have you seen CORAM BOY?

I think that all of the women of UTOPIA blended together. I couldn't pick one over another out of a line-up. The only one who sort of stood out was Martha Plimpton, but honestly, I think that the Best Play, Best Director and Design nominations will be the rewards for this massive beast. The only performances that were clearly unique to me were Ethan Hawke's and especially Billy Crudup's. But even if they both are nominated, they may end up canceling each other out.
