I took a cat nap early this evening and I had a dream that Nathan Lane won the Tony for BUTLEY and Dana Ivey wasn't even nominated. I had a dream:

"Winning a Tony this year is like winning Best Attendance in third grade: no one will care but the winner and their mom."
-Kad

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

I think I am the only one who was really annoyed by Dana Ivey.

"We don't value the lily less for not being made of flint and built to last. Life's bounty is in it's flow, later is too late. Where is the song when it's been sung, the dance when it's been danced? It's only we humans who want to own the future too." - Tom Stoppard, Shipwreck

I wholeheartedly believe that this is Ms. Ivey's Tony Winning Performance. As long as no other Featured Actresses sneak up with brilliant performances, she has it in the bag. It doesn't matter that the show will be long closed. This will be her 5th nomination, and she very much deserves it this time.

Having just seen TRANSLATIONS, I'd say Susan Lynch is going to be a force to be reckoned with in this category.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Also, I wouldn't count out any of the amazing performances by any of the ladies of Coast of Utopia. The critics loved them, and I have no doubt the Tony voters will agree.

I would love to see Martha Plimpton get a nomination.

I'm wondering whether Jennifer Ehle will be considered Leading or Featured. Sure, she has a huge role in SHIPWRECK, but her part in VOYAGE is definitely a supporting one, and I believe her role in SALVAGE is, too. If she's considered Featured, they can just engrave her award now.

I'd also love to see Plimpton recognized.

I once I had a dream I was up for a Tony, but they put me in the Balcony of Radio City. I kept thinking, "I'm not going to win. Why would they put the winner in the Balcony."

Okay, now I'll go back to work.

"If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn't help the poor, either we have to pretend that Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we've got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don't want to do it." -Stephen Colbert
