Dention Community Theatre announces auditions for THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, which will be held July 12th and 13th starting at 7 pm at the Campus Theatre, located at 214 W. Hickory Street in downtown Denton. Callbacks will be held July 14, if needed. The Denton Community Theatre production is directed by Michael Bolen. Auditions are open - no appointments and will consist of Cold Readings from the script and Improvisation. The style is that of Comedy of Manners and the setting is London and its suburbs in 1895. An upper class British dialect will be required of the actors. Head shots and resumes are helpful, but not necessary.

Parks & Recreation present 'Before They Were Parks,' an exhibit featuring more than 100 vintage and contemporary photographs from the New York City Parks Photo Archive and other collections. The exhibit depicts the often surprising pre-park existence of some the city's most cherished public places. The exhibition is curated by Jonathan Kuhn, Parks' Director of Art & Antiquities.

McKenzie Fine Art (511 West 25th Street) announces its summer group exhibition called 'Reader's Delight.' It features painting, sculpture, photography, and works on paper by the following artists: Richard Baker, Mary Ellen Bartley, Erica Baum, Tom Burckhardt, Matthew Higgs, Maira Kalman, Jean Lowe, Martin McMurray, Abelardo Morell, Yohei Nishimura, Mamiko Otsubo, Donna Ruff, and Mickey Smith. The exhibition opens on Thursday, June 24th with a reception for the artists from 6 to 8 p.m. and runs through Friday, August 6, 2010.

The first annual Warwick Jazz Festival will take place from August 26th to the 29th. This event, conceived and produced by local jazz musician Steve Rubin, in cooperation with venues presenting live music, the village of Warwick and local business will be an extension of a vibrant local jazz culture.

The California Theatre of the Performing Arts (563 West 4th St., San Bernardino) presents MENOPAUSE THE MUSICAL from July 20th to the 25th. On June 21st from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., as part of Make Music New York, Joe's Pub will present performances at the Astor Place Cube located at Cooper Sq at Lafayette St. In its fourth year, Make Music New York (MMNY) is a unique festival of free concerts in public spaces throughout the five boroughs of New York City. MMNY takes place simultaneously with similar festivities in more than 327 cities around the world - a global celebration of music making.

The American Museum of Natural History hosts a Summer Solstice Celebration on on June 20th from 11 am to 4 pm. The celebration takes place at the Rose Center for Earth and Space and is free with admission to the museum. More information can be found at the event website.

The 5th Annual Charlotte Shakespeare Festival, brought by Collaborative Arts, presents THE COMEDY OF ERRORS from June 4th to the 20th, at The Green Uptown. Opening was to be on the Thursday, the 3rd, but has been pushed back due to inclement weather. Patrons are welcomed to attend the final dress rehearsal Thursday at 8 pm.

The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art (MoCCA) announces the first children's comics classes from its Education Department beginning June 19th. The classes, COMIC ART FOR KIDS, focuses on comic art and is for children, ages 8 to 12. The classes offer a child-friendly, streamlined approach to learning the graphic language of line, form, and movement. Instructor Tom Motley will guide students through fun projects and activities designed to enable them to put their imaginative worlds down on paper as actual comics.

On, June 18th, Sydney Theatre Company presents Fergus Brown as part of their post-show 'The Wharf Sessions.' Melodic guitar-pop musician Fergus Brown and his band (which includes Holly Austin and Dan Freeman) will begin playing at approximately 10:30 PM at The Wharf.

The Old Globe announces their schedule for July through October. It includes the conclusion of the 2010 Shakespeare Festival, the world premiere of ROBIN AND THE 7 HOODS, the west coast premiere of THE LAST ROMANCE and WELCOME TO ARROYO'S, and Neil Simon's plays, BRIGHTON BEACH MEMOIRS and BROADWAY BOUND. Cynthia-Reeves presents 'Sense of Place,' featuring the art of seven contemporary photographers. Live at the Lincoln and Barnes & Noble host a Broadway celebration during the month of June with appearances by the cast of Lend Me A Tenor, Million Dollar Quartet, and Promises, Promises. The events include talkbacks, performances, and signings. All presentations take place in the third floor Live at Lincoln event space at the Lincoln Triangle on 1972 Broadway at 66th Street.

The Falcon Theatre will hold auditions for their upcoming production of EVIL DEAD: THE MUSICAL on Tuesday, June 15th, and Wednesday, June 16th, at 7 pm. The auditions will take place at the Monmuth Theatre at 636 Monmouth Street, Newport, KY. The production will run from October 22nd to November 6th.

The Shrine (2271 Adam Clayton Powell Jr Blvd) hosts The Nue Jazz Project on Wednesday, June 16th at 8 pm. The Nue Jazz Project is lead by drumist Chris Massey with Benjamin Drazen on saxaphone, Donald Malloy on trumpet, Evgeny Lebedev on piano, and David Ostrem on bass. They will be playing selections from Massey's new album, 'Vibrainium.'
