The Rock 'n Soul Medicine Show Comes to QPAC, 28 February
The Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) presents The Rock 'n Soul Medicine Show, which brings together iconic Australian artists Tim Rogers (You Am I) and nine-piece soul/funk outfit The Bamboos for one night
only on Thursday 28 February, 2013 in the Concert Hall.
Sparks flew when Rogers collaborated with Bamboos bandleader Lance Ferguson on one of the biggest songs of 2012, I Got Burned, which was included on the double ARIA Award nominated Bamboos album Medicine Man.
The track was championed by the likes of Triple J, ABC Radio, and Triple M and was catapulted by a legendary live performance on ABC TV show ‘Adam Hills In Gordon St Tonight' and became the seed for this unique and explosive collaboration called The Rock 'n Soul Medicine Show.
Lance Ferguson, from The Bamboos knew that this collaboration would be something unlike anything the band had done previously.
"Tim Rogers operates on a musical plane that is so highly charged with pure, raw emotion that I know these shows are going to be crazily enjoyable and above all, DANGEROUS," said Ferguson.
Whether as part of You Am I, as a solo artist, or as a performer on stage and screen, Tim Rogers has carved a unique artistic career now in its third decade, that has been littered with awards, accolades, gold and platinum
albums sales, and sold out shows across the globe. Fresh from an extensive national tour in support of his latest album Rogers Sings Rogerstein, Tim embarks on this latest phase with an enthusiasm and gusto,
and a generosity of spirit that we have come to expect.
"I'm pledging my pins and laying aside my B-List moves for this tour. Got A-list tastes in my tonsils. We aiming to please", said Rogers.
Bandleader Lance Ferguson and his nine piece Melbourne outfit The Bamboos have come a long way since forming in 2001. Over five acclaimed albums loved by both critics and devoted fans alike, their unique blend of hip hop,
soul, funk, mod, psych and more, has made them impossible to pigeonhole.
2012 has been a big year with Medicine Man becoming their biggest album to date and earning them ARIA nominations for Best Urban Album and Best Independent Release. The third nomination, for Best Live Act,
was the sweetest of all as it was recognition of their hard earned reputation as one of the most explosive live acts in the country.
The full ten piece onstage line-up for these very special shows will be led by Tim Rogers on vocals, bandleader Lance Ferguson on guitar, and will of course feature the stunning resident Bamboos vocalists Kylie Auldist and
These raucous merchants of Soul and Rock 'n Roll will be rambling into QPAC for one night only, peddling musical elixirs new and old from their own extensive back catalogues, alongside some carefully hand-picked covers.
