Due to the unpredictability of mother nature and information received from the Bureau of Meteorology, Adelaide Festival Centre regrettably announces that today's OzAsia Moon Lantern Festival in Elder Park is cancelled. The uncontrollable weather conditions mean that it is unsafe for the Festival to go ahead.

"Unfortunately due to weather conditions, the Moon Lantern Festival has been cancelled. It has proved to be too unsafe for the public in Elder Park. It is extremely disappointing that the sponsors, communities and schools' hard work will not be seen again this year, but we thank everyone for their dedication in the lead-up to this event." Joseph Mitchell, Director OzAsia Festival.

Due to the event falling on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Chinese Lunar calendar, the Moon Lantern Festival cannot be rescheduled. It is tradition for the event to be held when the full moon is round as it symbolises reunion.
