Glenn Seven Allen has been cast as Edward Rutledge in 1776 at the Goodspeed Opera House in East Haddam, CT.

Allen was recently nominated for a Helen Hayes Award for Best Actor in a Musical for his work in Cabaret at Arena Stage.  He also appeared this spring as Pontius Pilate in Jesus Christ Superstar at the North Carolina Theatre.  His credits include The Light in the Piazza (Lincoln Center, Goodman Theatre, Initman Theatre), A Fine and Private Place (York Theatre), Casino Paradise (Lincoln Center/American Songbook), The Ark (Village Theatre), and The Student Prince (Papermill).

1776 will run at Goodspeed Opera House from September 28th through December 2nd, 2007.  "You'll be on the edge of your seat as our nation's founding fathers fight for our freedom and draft the Declaration of Independence before your very eyes. Sparks fly as John Adams plots, the delegates vote, Thomas Jefferson writes, and George Washington waits, but it takes wily and wise Ben Franklin to save the day. It's a riveting musical filled with history, humor and, of course, romance," states Goodspeed's website.  The show features a score by Sherman Edwards and a book by Peter Stone.  Rob Ruggiero will direct.

No additional casting is known at this time.
