July 22nd - 26th

STILL UNTITLED, a new play written by South Florida resident Matt May, based upon stories by Terrance Olear, will receive its world premiere production July 22 - 26, 2009 in Fort Lauderdale. Set backstage on the opening night of Tristan O'Brien's Broadway debut, the play chronicles his reflections on life, love, loss, and perseverance, while coping with the back-to-back deaths of his mother and brother.

Olear, from New York City, will play the lead role of Tristan O'Brien.  Supporting Olear is Miami native Javier Ortega.  May is also directing the production, with scenic design by Thomas Hart, sound design by Rochelle Frederick, and lighting design by Amanda Camacho.

STILL UNTITLED is the culmination of fourteen years work. Originally an undergraduate journalism course assignment, Matt May interviewed his then overweight, closeted, gay, actor friend, from an emotionally distant Catholic-guilt-ridden family, who one year prior, had lost his mother to cancer, only six months after losing his gay brother to AIDS.  Many years later, May came across the article, re-read it, and asked Olear if he had ever written down any of his accounts, because, not only do the strangest events happen to him, that man can tell a story.  He hadn't, but it was time.  During the next three and a half years, Olear wrote individual stories.  Some were humorous.  Some were tragic.  Some were a combination.  All of them were sincere.  May then used them as the basis for the play.

After numerous re-writes, readings, and work sessions with individuals in Florida and New York City, the script is now receiving a full production produced by Verve Central Productions.  The Production Company was formed in 2009 to produce and develop new works and talents, educate, and provide quality entertainment and services to its audiences.  Verve Central Productions is excited to be renting Rising Action Theatre's intimate playhouse; the perfect venue for a personal look at this young artist's life.

STILL UNTITLED contains mature themes and language.
