Naturally, the first thing people want to know about Peter Parnell's new play, DADA WOOF PAPA HOT, is exactly what the title means.

"It's four words that a child first speaks," explains cast member Tammy Blanchard in Lincoln Center Theater's new video.

Her stage colleagues Stephen Plunkett, Alex Hurt, John Benjamin Hickey, Patrick Breen, John Pankow, Kellie Overbey talk about how the exploration of parenthood, from the perspective of both gay couples and straight couples, emphasizes how little differences there are between the two.

Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of Producing Artistic Director, André Bishop) presents Tammy Blanchard,Patrick Breen, John Benjamin Hickey, Alex Hurt, Kellie Overbey, John Pankow, and Stephen Plunkett in DADA WOOF PAPA HOT, a new play by Peter Parnell, and directed by Scott Ellis. DADA WOOF PAPA HOT plays at the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater (150 West 65 Street).

Alan and Rob (to be played by are an older married couple with a three-year-old daughter and a life they fought for decades to be allowed to lead. But in the course of one school year, Alan, Rob and their friends struggle with what it means to be married with children at this head-spinning cultural moment. By turns comic and serious, DADA WOOF PAPA HOT asks the question: are the challenges of gay dads the same as those of straight ones, or is there something fundamentally different about being a gay parent?
