For the first time ever, legendary solo artist, Elton John, performed on the Primetime Emmy Awards stage. The multiple Grammy Award winner's performance paid tribute to the late world-renowned performer, Liberace, whose HBO biopic, "Behind the Candelabra," was nominated for 15 Emmy Awards this year. Check out the moving tribute below!

The performance followed presenters Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, who were both nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for their roles in the movie. John's appearance coincides with the Sept. 24 release of The Diving Board, his first studio album in seven years.

The 65TH Primetime Emmy Awards were broadcast live across the country from Nokia Theater L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles, Sunday, Sept. 22 on the CBS Television Network. Neil Patrick Harris hosted the show for the second time.
