On Saturday April 25th, 2015, New York Thespians, the New York chapter of The Educational Theatre Association/International Thespian Society, will host their 6th annual festival, sponsored by Music Theatre International and hosted by The American Academy of Dramatic Arts. The event is open to middle and high school students, teachers, and theatre professionals.

The day will include a diverse selection of workshops, including clowning, playwrighting, costume design, puppetry, and auditioning. There will be all-festival tech challenge, student leadership opportunities, professionally adjudicated individual events, and a keynote speech by Joe Norton (Director of Education and Outreach, Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids). Two scholarships of $2,000 each will be awarded to two graduating seniors, including the new Masterworks Scholarship, sponsored by Masterworks Theater Company and awarded to one graduating high school senior with a keen appreciation of classic theatrical works.

Registration for the full day event, which includes lunch and snack, is just $15 for middle school students and high school students who are members of the Thespian Society and $20 for non-Thespian high school students.

The New York Educational Theatre Festival is a unique opportunity for networking on the student and teacher levels and is a celebration of educational theatre.

Registration is open until Monday April 20th on-line at http://www.NewYorkThespians.org
