Tony Award Fashion: What Will The Ladies Be Wearing?

It's one of the most common questions on the red carpet to any awards show - "Who are you wearing?"  BroadwayWorld spoke to several of the Tony nominated leading ladies this season to give our readers a sneak peek!

"In a word: Carolina Herrerra - what else is there to say?"

Kelli O'Hara (South Pacific)
"I'm a procrastinator, so although I had amazing choices, I only just made up my mind this week!  I chose an Alberta Ferretti gown that makes me feel classy.  The style is timeless.  I love to wear fun, crazy dresses, too, but there's something about the Tonys that makes me want to look back on the night and find no reason to say, "WHAT WAS I THINKING!"  And to really guarantee I'll feel my best, I'll be bringing along my better half, Greg Naughton."

"I have always loved the dresses by Elie Saab, and always hoped I would get to go to an event where I could wear one.  So when I was nominated, he was kind enough to send a selection for me to choose from.  I fell in love with it the minute I put it on.  It's dark purple, has lots of beading on it, and very glamorous!  A friend of mine also gave me a great gift for my nomination- a new Lulu Guiness purse.  It's the shape of tiny little dress, and you can actually look up the skirt!!  Adorable."

"I'm wearing a fabulous St. John outfit -- they've been wonderful and have dressed me for many of the events this season.  I went into their 5th Avenue store and tried on many outfits, and fell in love with this one.  I'm also wearing great vintage jewelry from Kentshire.  As far as something special, I'm bringing my son, my husband and my mom.  It doesn't get more special than that!"

"I am wearing an antique pendent that belongs to my sister. Our wonderful wardrobe king is sewing it on to my dress. This is something that is very special to me."

"I will be wearing Leggiadro.  They approached me after having seen the show to ask if they could dress me. I had already looked at a number of stores and found nothing. We got together and came up with a design, chose the fabric (a gorgeous teal Italian silk), and the gown is being made for me.  I feel very lucky.  I will be wearing a ring my mother gave me, but I'm not "bringing" any thing else special except my son, who will be my escort."

"On the day I was nominated I stepped outside of my Apt and looked across the street and I saw this great dress in the window of VINTEDGE, a fabulous vintage store at 40 west 25th. When i mentioned to Joe Sundlie the owner that I was interested in it he said "That dress is vintage Loris Azzaro and has to go somewhere special, like The Tony's". It is just gorgeous and it seems, meant to be."
