Young performers now have a chance to make their Broadway debut--as a "Who" in the upcoming Broadway musical version of the Dr. Seuss holiday musical How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  The winner will be announced on the "Today" show next month.

"There are special requirements: Participant must be between eight and 14 years of age and no taller than five feet. And you'll need to make a videotape showing his/her talent.  All tapes must be received by August 30. Finalists will be chosen by the Broadway director and finalists will be expected to come to New York City by September 6. All finalists will appear on the 'Today' show on September 7 and the winner will by announced live on our show," states an MSNBC article.

"Based on the classic 1957 Christmas story by Dr. Seuss, this is the story of a Christmas-hating Grinch who tries to steal Christmas from the Christmas-loving Whos by taking all of their presents and decorations. But, they and he realize that Christmas is in their hearts, not under their trees," as the show is described in press notes.  How the Grinch Stole Christmas will make its Broadway debut at the Hilton Theatre, running from November 8 through January 7. Previews of the show will begin on October 25th.  The show, which has previously been seen at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre, features book and lyrics by Timothy Mason and music by Mel Marvin.  Created and conceived by Jack O'Brien (who will supervise the NY production), it will be directed by Matt August with choreography by John DeLuca.
