Tickets for the U.S. premiere of Disney's The Hunchback of Notre Dame at La Jolla Playhouse are now on sale at LaJollaPlayhouse.org.

The U.S. Premiere of The Hunchback of Notre Dame will run at the La Jolla Playhouse from October 26 - December 7. The show features Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, Book by Peter Parnell and will be Directed by Scott Schwartz

The show is based on the novel by Victor Hugo and has its roots in the 1996 Disney film of the same name. The film featured the voices of Tom Hulce, Demi Moore, Kevin Kline, Paul Kandel, Jason Alexander, Charles Kimbrough, David Ogden Stiers, Tony Jay, and Mary Wickes (in her final film role). A darker stage adaptation, written by James Lapine, previously played Berlin, Germany, as Der Glöckner von Notre Dame from 1992 to 2002.

This new production is produced in association with Paper Mill Playhouse, by special arrangement with Disney Theatrical Productions.

According to the show's web site, "The Hunchback of Notre Dame is the only stage collaboration from two masters of the American musical theatre, composer Alan Menken and lyricist Stephen Schwartz. In this brand new production, a lush, emotionally rich score highlights the music's orchestral power and choral beauty in an intimate retelling of the famous love story."

About the production, La Jolla's Artistic Director Christopher Ashley says "I have always been intrigued by Victor Hugo's story of love and aloneness, obsession and heroism. Now this extraordinary creative team retells this classic with a simple sophistication and an unspeakably gorgeous score that our audiences will love."

The production will next play the Paper Mill Playhouse in New Jersey from March 4 - April 5, 2015. Casting is expected to be announced shortly.
