On Monday, July 7th, the Theater People Podcast welcomes Tony Award-winner Tonya Pinkins. Pinkins is currently co-starring on Broadway in Holler If Ya Hear Me, a mostly rapped-through musical featuring the music, lyrics, and poetry of Tupac Shakur.

She shares memories from her distinguished career, including stories of making her Broadway debut in the legendary Stephen Sondheim & Harold Prince's musical flop MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG, her Tony Award winning performance in JELLY'S LAST JAM, and her celebrated turn as the title character in CAROLINE OR CHANGE (which she performed off-Broadway, on Broadway, and in London's West End).

In the conversation she speaks passionately about all of her work, but especially about HOLLER. She discusses why she feels so strongly that this show is necessary and why this story needs to be told at this time.
