On Monday, October 6th the Theater People Podcast welcomes Tony, Emmy, Drama Desk, Obie winner and Pulitzer Prize nominee Lin-Manuel Miranda. Topics discussed include Miranda's upcoming new musical HAMILTON--which makes it's world premiere at the Public Theater in January, the Tony winning IN THE HEIGHTS, BRING IT ON: THE MUSICAL, AND 21 CHUMP STREET--The short musical Miranda wrote for NPR's "This American Life."

In 2003, Theater People's host, Patrick Hinds, then a freelance writer, conducted the first ever interview with Miranda regarding IN THE HEIGHTS. For this episode, the two revisit that interview. Miranda also shares memories of growing up in Manhattan, realizing his dream of working with Stephen Sondheim on the 2009 revival of WEST SIDE STORY, the inspiration he derived from the work of Jonathan Larson, and the experience of playing Larson in the autobiographical TICK, TICK BOOM in the recent Encores production.
