THE SKELETON REP announces the New York premiere of Scratching by Britton Buttrill, directed by Miles Mandwelle, opening in August of 2016 at the New York International Fringe Festival.

Sex, drugs, and illegal tattoos collide in SCRATCHING, by Britton Buttrill. Set in a Blue Collar town in the Deep South, Brianna, a smart girl dumbed down to stripping for a living has the chance for a new life while her boyfriend, Christian, is trying to scrape out a future giving illegal tattos in thier dilapidated trailer because a cocaine-induced slip of his hand blacklisted him from licensed parolors in New York City. Brianna and Christian's meagar lives begin to spiral out of control when Christian's ex-fiance- New York actress, Tracy- arrives in town with a new ring on her finger and the desire to get Christian back. It is then that Christian's brother, Adrian, enters the mix with a bag of MDMA that promises financial stability. A doomed circle of unrequited love unfolds between the four of them, causing Adrian and Christian to confront the past, the present, and ultimately each other.

Scratching received its critically acclaimed world premiere in 2013 with Atlanta's Pinch n' Ouch Theatre which Atlanta Theater Fans described as a play with "...broken dreams, lost hope and isolated loneliness... An enthralling story with interesting characters." The play subsequently received New York presentations at HERE Arts Center and at The Flea Theater.

Scratching is the second production of 2016, produced by THE SKELETON REPRATORY COMPANY. The production is directed by Miles Mandwelle, produced by Ria T. DiLullo and will feature Karsten Otto, Andi Morrow, Tyler Gardella, and Alexandria Collins.

Founded in 2015 by Ria T. DiLullo, The Skeleton Rep is a New York based group of theater artists whose goal is to apply the ideas and tactics of the "canon" - any canon - to an "American" narrative, in any way that an American story can be told.

Scratching opens in August of 2016 at Fringe NYC at The Player's Theatre at Minetta Lane. Performances are Saturday, 8/13 at 7:15pm, Tuesday 8/16 at 4:30pm, Friday 8/19 at 2:15pm, Sunday 8/21 at 9:45pm, and Friday 8/26 at 2:15pm.
