The Players Club of Swarthmore will present the Angels in America, Part II: Perestroika, by Tony Kushner, Oct. 28 to Nov. 12 for ten performances at The Players Club of Swarthmore, 614 Fairview Ave. in Swarthmore. Buy tickets online at www.pcstheater.org Directed by Dave Ebersole, Perestroika, is the conclusion of Kushner's intimate epic that focuses on the HIV/AIDS epidemic that afflicted the gay community in New York City in the 1980's and depicts the politics and social failures surrounding the disease and its emergence in the United States. The Players Club of Swarthmore presented Part I: Millennium Approaches last season to great critical acclaim.

"I'm happy to report, that The Players Club of Swarthmore has done a fine job with this demanding play (Angels in America part one Millennium Approaches)....Players Club's plans to stage Perestroika, part two of Kushner's play...it'll definitely be something to look forward to." - Tim Dunleavy, DC Metro Theatre Arts.

"Perestroika is the more challenging of the two parts of Angels in America, but it's a joy to continue the journey with this amazing cast and crew. We'll be presenting both parts together on our closing night. It's a rare theater event, and I'm thrilled we're able to do it," Dave Ebersole, director, said. On Nov. 12, Part 1 - Millennium Approaches is at 3 p.m. and Part 2 - Perestroika is at 8 p.m. at a special price of $25 for both shows.

In Perestroika, The AIDS epidemic is escalating, the ozone layer is weakening, and God has abandoned all mankind. Kushner creates a cosmic-scale portrait of legendary characters, including ancient rabbis, blind revolutionaries, imaginary travel agents and, of course, angels, set against a backdrop of old relationships ending while new, unexpected ones begin, amid questions of morality, guilt and forgiveness. The cast from Millennium Approaches returns including Ryan Goulden (Upper Darby), Ed Donlevie (Devon), Taylor Darden (Philadelphia), Heather Ferrel (Wilmington, Del.), Walter Hamilton McCready (Chester), Steve Connor (Springfield), Rhonda Goldstein (Abington Twp.) and Lizzy Dalton-Negron (Glen Mills).

Angels in America, Part Two: Perestroika runs from Friday, Oct. 28 through Saturday, Nov. 12. Thursday performances are at 7:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday performances are at 8 p.m. and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Advisory: Strong language, adult themes, and nudity.
