The Peoples Improv Theater announces fall run of Pluto Is Missing! A Not-So-Planetary Musical - Weekly Performances Begin September 17th, 2017 at 3pm.

"Once Upon a time in outer space / there were nine planets, not eight," begins PLUTO IS MISSING!, a new family-friendly musical comedy opening at The Peoples Improv Theatre (PIT), in New York on Sunday, October 1. Directed and produced by Emily Duncan and Chris Mann (the writing team behind 2016's Me and My Birdie: An Ornithological Rock Opera) the show builds on Pluto's real 2006 demotion to a dwarf planet, imagining little planetoid's subsequent cosmic journey of self-discovery.

Blending fantasy with scientific fact, the show uses puppets, live music and and animated visuals to engage the five-to-ten set, while adults will appreciate a witty script, catchy songs and pop-culture references. As Pluto (Mallory Wu) departs the solar system in an attempt to get bigger, a pair of passionate astrophysicists (Duncan & Aria Shahghasemi) who have just launched the New Horizons probe fields the fallout on Earth.

The project is being partially funded via a Kickstarter campaign launched by Mann and Duncan, in coordination with Kickstarter's Projects of Earth, a 40th anniversary celebration of the Voyager Probes (one a character in the show, played by Calvin Cole). The story, created by Mann, was prompted by his desire to see smarter entertainment for the children in his family, and his lifelong fascination with outer space.

Cast includes Calvin Cole, Alfonso Giansanti, Aria Shahghasemi, Mallory Wu, Chris Mann and Emily Duncan. Puppets designed by Julia Darden.

PLUTO IS MISSING! opens at the PIT (123 E 24th St NYC) on October 1 and is in previews September 17 (3pm) and 24 (5pm). It runs Sundays at 3pm October through December. Tickets $20 via thepit-nyc.com, with group rates available.

For additional information about tickets, contact the PIT at 212-563-7488 or email info@thepit-nyc.com. More information on the show at PlutoIsMissing.com.
