The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company is happy to announce the next session of The Onomatopoeia Lab Experience!

The Onomatopoeia Lab Experience is essentially a set of unique theatre classes meant to help develop performers both artistically & professionally. The course is shaped as a theatre laboratory because we wish to create, as Stanislavski put it "neither a full-fledged theatre nor a school for beginners, but a laboratory for the experiments of more or less mature actors." (Stanislavski, My Life in Art 1926).

The Onomatopoeia Lab Experience focuses on using theatre games & exercises to help organically create scenes & monologues into dynamic, passionate performance pieces. Using techniques developed by Spolin, Boal, Bogart, Miesner, Stanislavski & more our classes will seamlessly combine classic techniques with modern sensibilities. Our goal is not only to teach performers these games and exercises, but also how to practically apply them to text and performances for the stage & film. Each class session last for 6 weeks and performers will focus on three different performance styles: Realism, Non-Realism & Classical.

Each class session also concludes with a final "Showcase" performance night consisting of a series of short 10 minute scenes / performances. This is a great opportunity for class members to share the work they have developed over the course with directors, agents & other industry people as well as family & friends.

If you are looking for some action, attraction & passion and you want to be a part of The Onomatopoeia Lab Experience then please send a message to theonomatopoeiatheatrecompany@gmail.com. We are looking to build a strong company of unique and talented players!

The next session of The Onomatopoeia Lab Experience will be from Feb. 2nd - March 8th with a performance date of March 15th for the final "Showcase" presentation.

The Onomatopoeia Lab Experience classes will be held every Tues. & Thurs. from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM. Classes meet for a total of 6 weeks with the final performance set for the following week (Week #7).

Classes of The Onomatopoeia Lab Experience are $400.00 per session.

The Onomatopoeia Lab Experience is a part of The Onomatopoeia Theatre Company.

The Onomatopoeia Lab Experience is proud to hold its class sessions at The Gene Frankel Theatre. The Gene Frankel Theatre has remained steadfast since Gene Frankel founded the theatre in 1949; finding and cultivating an audience that can share with us the discovery and excitement of theatre. Currently the Gene Frankel Theatre is still vibrant with classes and revolutionary theatre. Our goal is to keep the legacy of Gene Frankel alive by nurturing new talents that voice who we are today. We are looking to give a home to artists that cultivate a theater that speaks not only of an idealistic socio-political change - but a personal change, the only truly manageable change that can lead to a new and better social, political, economic world. The work that has come from this venue for the last 63 years has had civil rights and progressive thinking at its core. Today this is more relevant and necessary than ever. We are looking to reach out to our community and invite it's people in their whole to celebrate new thinking, new ideas and a deeply emotional positive change. Through an evening at the theater or an afternoon of a children's workshop - the GFT will be a haven for visual art, performance and discussion in a community that is quickly growing commercially and in our hope; culturally, intellectually and spiritually as well.
