THE PROFIT OF CREATION, a new musical with book and lyrics by Charlie Sohne and music by Tim Rosser, will be presented to an industry audience on March 13 at 3 p.m. in the North Studio at Playwrights Horizons. The cast of the reading includes Lindsay Mendez (Godspell), Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (A Little Night Music), Colin Hanlon (Rent), Sean Dugan (Next Fall), Sally Wilfert (Make Me A Song) and Michael Winther (33 Variations). The reading will be directed by Obie Award-winning director Evan Yionoulis, music directed by Paul Staroba (Lucky Guy) and stage managed by Donald Butchko.

The Profit of Creation tells the story of a physicist, Max who, after being rejected by the scientific community and betrayed by the love of his life, accepts an offer from a right-wing organization to move to Kentucky and head up a newly planned Creation Museum. Max's cynical decision takes a surprising turn when he falls in love, makes promises he can’t keep, and becomes deeply connected to people who, at first glance, seem completely unlike himself.

The Profit of Creation was last seen at the 2011 Yale Institute for Music Theater and underwent development at ASCAP’s 2010 Johnny Mercer Songwriters Workshop.

Bookwriter/lyricist Charlie Sohne has previously written lyrics for Tina Girlstar (book by Anton Dudley, music by Brian Feinstein), which was workshopped at New York Stage and Film and optioned by Olympus Theatricals; The Shadow Sparrow (book by Anton Dudley, music by Keith Gordon), which was workshopped at The 2011 O'Neill Music Theater conference; and Kissing The Underworld (book by Anton Dudley) which received a commission from The Cherry Lane Theater. His work has been seen at NYTB at the D-Lounge, NEXT's Emerging Composers Concerts, as well as a BMI Smoker and the BMI Showcase. Sohne is a member of the Lark Play Development Center's Monthly Meeting of The Minds, the advanced class of the BMI Workshop and the Dramatists Guild.

Tim Rosser is a freelance music director and composer. Rosser was the associate music director for this year’s annual Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS benefit, “Broadway Backwards.” He also serves as the music director for The Water Coolers, a corporate comedy act, and Making Books Sing, which produces original shows for young audiences. His keyboard subbing credits include "The Addams Family" on Broadway. Tim is an alumnus of Oberlin Conservatory, the BMI/Lehman Engel Musical Theater Writing Workshop and the Johnny Mercer Songwriters Project at Northwestern University. He has two new musicals in development with lyricist/librettist Charlie Sohne, The Profit of Creation and The Dancing Boy.
