THE EGG PROGECT, a dark comedy written by Mike Amato and inspired by the plays of Edward Albee, will make its world premiere in the 2015 New York International Fringe Festival.

THE EGG PROGECT is a startling comedy about the complexities of father-son relationships, personal accountability and the repercussions of broken family ties. After being away for fifteen years, Marty Edgett thought he had finally shed the baggage his microbiologist father Robert saddled him with. When Marty returns home eager to show off the new life he's created for himself, Robert is waiting to show Martin the new life that he's created with the help of a Little League line-drive, formaldehyde and a chicken egg.

In 2012, THE EGG PROGECT was presented as a staged reading starring Debbie Harry of Blondie as the mother, a role previously played in developmental readings by NYC performance icon Penny Arcade. It then had a limited sold-out run at Dixon Place Theater. The show began as a reading at the Bowery Poetry Club.

Playwright Mike Amato is a Moth Story Slam winner and a two-time finalist for the Andy Kaufman Awards. As a comedian, he has performed in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Montreal Comedy Festival as well as in comedy clubs across the country. As a writer, he is a blogger for the Huffington Post and has had prose published in print and online.
