The Goteborg Festival has announced that the festival's 2016 Honorary Dragon Award goes to THE DANISH GIRL director Tom Hooper. The award recognizes an inspiring filmmaker whose work deserves special attention, now and forever

Tom Hooper, born 1972 in London, made his directing debut in 1992 but got his big BREAKTHROUGH with The King's Speech (2010), which was nominated to twelve Oscars and was awarded the prize for Best Directing. Two years later, he was nominated for LES MISERABLES (2012) and actress Anne Hathaway won the prize for Best Supporting Actress.

The Danish Girl, which will be screened at the festival, has been nominated to four Oscars ahead of this year's Academy Awards.

Previous winners of the award include:

2014 Ralph Fiennes
2013 Margarethe von Trotta
2012 Michael Winterbottom
