The cast of Sweet Charity will be on hand to sign CDs of the show's new cast recording at FYE Rockefeller Center (51st St and 6th Avenue) on Thursday, July 14, 2005 from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Tony nominee Christina Applegate (Charity Hope Valentine) will be on hand to autograph the albums, as will Tony winner Denis O'Hare (Oscar), Janine LaManna (Nickie), Kyra Da Costa (Helene), Paul Schoeffler (Vittorio Vidal) and Rhett George (Big Daddy).

The new recording of Sweet Charity is available on DRG Records and is in stores now.  In addition to 18 tracks encompassing all the songs featured in the revival (including "Good Impression," a Coleman/Fields tune interpolated to the production), the recording also includes bonus tracks.  Featured on the disc are five songs from the score recorded by one or both of the songwriters, four of which have never been released.  The new recording is produced by Hugh Fordin and recorded, mixed and edited by Cynthia Daniels.

With a (revised) book by Neil Simon, music by Cy Coleman and lyrics by Dorothy Fields, Sweet Charity is based on Federico Fellini's screenplay (with Tullio Pinelli and Ennio Flaiano) for his film Nights of Cabiria.  "Sweet Charity is a funny, poignant and tender look at the misadventures of Charity Hope Valentine, a dance-hall hostess who always gives her heart - and her earnings - to the wrong man," according to a release.  The production is directed by Tony Award-winner Walter Bobbie (Chicago), choreographed by Tony Award-winner Wayne Cilento (The Who's Tommy, Wicked) and is produced by Barry and Fran Weissler and Clear Channel Entertainment in association with Edwin W. Schloss.  The show originally opened at the Palace Theatre on January 29th, 1966 in a production that was staged by the legendary Bob Fosse and starred the equally renowned Gwen Verdon in the title role; it ran for 608 performances.

Sweet Charity, which was nominated this year for a Tony for Best Revival of a Musical, is currently running at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 W 45th St). For tickets and information, call (212) 239-6200 or visit Telecharge.com.
