Following sell-out seasons in the UK, Ireland and Australia, Irish chanteuse Camille O'Sullivan will make her U.S. debut in her show "Camille - La Fille Du Cirque" at The Spiegeltent (Pier 17, South Street Seaport) on September 5, 13 and 19.

"Famed for her stunning voice and the passionate and dramatic intensity of her 'storytelling,' Camille celebrates the dark and light music of Jacques Brel, Nick Cave, Tom Waits, and more . Backed by a five-piece band, the raven-haired singer performs in English and French in an emotional and gripping show that was awarded Best Music 2005 at the Brighton Festival (UK) and Best Cabaret Artiste at the Melbourne Theatre Awards 2005 and recently sold out its three week run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as one of the top ten 'must see' shows," according to press notes.

"A chameleon on stage, Camille's' performances are more about telling a story through music than simply singing songs. Mixing narrative songs of the past with contemporary storytellers, she captures and becomes each song's character. Strange, sultry and nocturnal, 'La Fille Du Cirque' is all about the darker side of life and its intoxicating charms - a sensual, emotional and dramatic experience of cabaret, cocktails, corsets, contortionists and cheeky burlesque."

Born in London to a French mother and Irish father, O'Sullivan moved to Cork, Ireland when she was a child. A former award winning architect and painter, she fulfilled her dream of running away with the circus, traveling the world with The Famous Spiegeltent (a Belgian 'Tent of Mirrors)', following in the footsteps of its ghosts, including Marlene Dietrich who sang "Falling in Love Again" on the very same stage.

After being spotted in La Clique/Absinthe at The Famous Spiegeltent, she most recently co-starred as the lead variety performer Jane opposite Judi Dench in Stephen Frears' Oscar-nominated Mrs. Henderson Presents. As a singer she is well known for her dramatic interpretations of the songs of Jacques Brel, Kurt Weill, Nick Cave, Hans Eisler, David Bowie and Tom Waits in her own devised solo shows "Lost Song," "The Dark Angel," "The Carney Dream" and "Brel-The Right to Dream." O'Sullivan has also appeared as guest with Damien Rice and Shane McGowan, and has released three CDs and will be releasing a DVD in the Fall.
