Every pantomime needs a baddy to boo and the Wyvern Theatre has just found theirs, for this year's production of Jack and the Beanstalk starring Keith Chegwin.

Simon Wegrzyn will take on the villainous role of Fleshcreep and he is guaranteed to whip the crowd up into a frenzy when he takes to the stage as the Giant's Henchman. This will be the first time Simon has played a villain in panto, having previously played Sarah The Cook in Dick Whittington and The Lion in The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and the first time he has performed alongside Swindon pantomime veteran Keith Chegwin.

"I'm over the moon to be in panto with Keith Chegwin!" said Simon Wegrzyn, whose name is pronounced with a silent 'z' and sounds like Chegwin. "He would have me in fits of laughter on The Big Breakfast. But more than that, he has treaded the boards of the West End, performed Shakespeare, presented on TV, and danced on ice...if my career turns out anything like his I'll be a very happy man. Cheggers, I salute you!!!"

Simon has performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company, at The National Theatre and is the writer and creator of the new TV series TeamXtreme, which will star Russell Grant and shall be released in 2014. Russell was quick to congratulate Simon, tweeting on the social networking site Twitter, "good luck with my dear and very old friend @thekeithchegwin in panto @WyvernTheatre x".

Jack and the Beanstalk is produced by One From The Heart by arrangement with HQ Theatres, and staged by the same team that presented last year's critically-acclaimed Swindon pantomime starring Keith Chegwin.

"Simon will make a sensational Fleshcreep," said producer Daryl Back. "He will be the third red-head cast in this year's pantomime - fourth if you include Hamish the Giant!"

Jack and the Beanstalk will run at the Wyvern Theatre from Sat 7 December 2013 to Sun 5 January 2014. Book tickets today at http://wyverntheatre.org.uk or by calling the Ticket Office on 01793 524 481.
