On Thursday, November 19 at 730pm, Astoria comedy hub Q.E.D. presents Shabbat Dinner, a monthly comedy variety and storytelling show where comedians tell jokes and stories about their religious upbringings. .

The show is hosted by Eitan Levine (PITtv), and Tovah Silbermann (Empire Biscuit Comedy Festival), who talk about their Orthodox Jewish upbringings in a way that is equally informative as it is funny. Between each act, there is a "Jew and A" where audience members can ask questions about the insular world of Orthodoxy that they've always wanted to know (Last month Tovah and Eitan dispelled the hole in the sheet rumor thanks to an audience inquiry). The show is textured with powerpoint presentations, stories and stand up from both the hosts as well as the guests-many of whom grew up religiously as well.

"I never realized until I grew up and stepped out of my religious upbringing how unique my childhood was" said host Tovah Silbermann, who grew up in a hassidic community. "But last month's packed show is a testament to the fact that this is something fascinating that people want to hear about".

The show is not an ode to matzah ball soup and Woody Allen. "Most Jewish stereotypes don't apply to our childhoods." said host Eitan Levine. "We want to be as authentic to our upbringings as possible and draw from our real life experiences".

The line-up for Shabbat Dinner on November 19 is:

David Bluvband (The Chris Gethard Show)

Liza Treyger (Comedy Central Presents)

Andrew Tavin (PITtv)

David Finkelstein
