The New York Times is reporting that the New York State Department of Labor has issued two safety violations against SPIDER-MAN over accidents that occured in 2010 including Christopher Tierney's incident and those actors who were injured while rehearsing.

The production has not be penalized for these violations, as the issues have been addressed with the addition of new safety protocols in December that added additional safety checks and redundancies for all stunts. State officials will be inspecting the show with surprise visits on an ongoing basis and any future violations could result in the removal of permits that allow the actors to fly over the audience and other stunts.

On December 20, Christopher Tierney suffered an accident which caused the actor to fall 30 feet. Tierney sustained a fracture in his skull, a broken scapula, a broken bone close to his elbow, 4 broken ribs, a bruised lung and 3 fractured vertebrae. He is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

After the accident, OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration), Actors Equity and the New York State Department of Labor met to discuss additional safety protocolswhich were enacted immediately.
