As first reported on TVLine.com, SMASH stars Megan Hilty and Sean Hayes are heading for a reunion on NBC's upcoming comedy SEAN SAVES THE WORLD.

Hilty has been cast as a series regular in the role of 'Liz', described as "the BFF and co-worker of Hayes' character" The part was originally to be played by actress Lindsay Sloane, who exited the project just before it was picked up by the network.

In the series, airing Thursdays at 9/8c, Hayes stars as a divorced gay dad who juggles a lot - his successful but demanding career, offbeat employees, pushy mom Lorna (Linda Lavin, "Alice"), and weekends with his teenage daughter, Ellie (Sami Isler). So when his 14-year-old bundle of joy moves in full-time, it's a whole new world for him.

Hilty began her Broadway career as Glinda in the New York company of WICKED. She then got star billing in Dolly Parton's musical NINE TO FIVE and caused a sensation when she essayed the role of Lorelei Lee in the Encores! production of GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES. She recently starred as Ivy Lynn in the NBC musical drama Smash.

In 2011, Hayes received a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical after making his Broadway debut in the wildly successful "Promises, Promises" alongside Kristin Chenoweth. That same year he won an Emmy Award for hosting the Tony Awards. Previously, Hayes was seen on stage in New York in the New York City Center production of "Damn Yankees" with Jane Krakowski and Cheyenne Jackson. The actor was a guest star in the current season of NBC's Smash.
