THE PRODUCERS the new MEL BROOKS musical proudly announces that Tony Award-winner Roger Bart will reprise his starring role as 'Leo Bloom' opposite Richard Kind's Max Bialystock beginning Tuesday, May 3, 2005 (through July 3). Mr. Bart is currently filming the motion picture version of THE PRODUCERS in the role he created on stage: Carmen Ghia (for which he received Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations).

Roger Bart received 1999 Tony and Drama Desk Awards for Best Featured Actor in a Musical as Snoopy in the revival of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, directed by Michael Mayer. Other Broadway and first national touring credits: The Frogs (Xanthias), Triumph of Love (Harlequin), King David, How to Succeed in Business… (Bud Frump), The Secret Garden (Dickon), Big River (Tom Sawyer) and The Who's Tommy (Cousin Kevin in the first national, Germany and London). He is currently shooting the Universal film of The Producers and recently finished filming the Jeff Garlin directed I Want Someone to Eat Cheese With.

THE PRODUCERS opened on Broadway on Thursday, April 19, 2001 (previews began March 21, 2001). Currently in its fifth smash year at the St. James Theatre (246 West 44 Street), THE PRODUCERS, the 2001 Tony Award winning Best Musical, is the recipient of the most Tony Awards in theater history.

Based on Mr. Brooks' Academy Award-winning 1968 film of the same name, THE PRODUCERS is the story of down-on-his-luck theatrical producer, Max Bialystock, and Leo Bloom, a mousy accountant. Together they hatch the ultimate scam: raise more money than you need for a sure-fire Broadway flop and pocket the difference. Their "sure-fire" theatrical fiasco? . . . None other than the musical Springtime for Hitler.

THE PRODUCERS also stars Tony Award winner Jonathan Freeman (Roger DeBris), John Treacy Eagan (Franz Liebkind), Brooks Ashmanskas (Carmen Ghia) and Angie Schworer (Ulla).

THE PRODUCERS has a Tony Award-winning book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan, Tony Award-winning music and lyrics by Mel Brooks, and Tony Award winning direction and choreography by Susan Stroman. The musical also has Tony Award winning set design by Robin Wagner, Tony Award winning costume design by William Ivey Long, Tony Award winning lighting design by Peter Kaczorowski, and sound design by Steve Kennedy.

THE PRODUCERS is produced by Rocco Landesman, Clear Channel Entertainment, The Frankel · Baruch · Viertel · Routh Group, Bob and Harvey Weinstein, Rick Steiner, Robert F.X. Sillerman and Mel Brooks, in association with James D. Stern and Douglas Meyer and by special arrangement with StudioCanal.

Tickets for THE PRODUCERS, which are scaled at $30.00 - $100.00, are on sale by phone through Tele-charge at (212) 239-6200 and in-person at The St. James Theatre, 246 West 44th Street. The playing schedule is Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 8 p.m., Wednesday & Saturday matinees at 2 p.m., and Sunday matinees at 3 p.m.
