Founded in 1986, The Barrow Group (TBG) has spent the last twenty-eight years refining a specific approach to storytelling that focuses on spontaneity and clarity. The company has shared its techniques with thousands of theater and film artists, many of whom consider TBG their artistic home.

Robert Serrell announced as Executive Director of The Barrow Group Serrell joined TBG in 2010 as Director of Education. During his tenure the annual school revenue increased by 600% and annual website visits by 1,000%. In 2012, CBS News named TBG one of the top five acting studios in New York City. This year, the New York Foundation for the Arts named Serrell an "Emerging Leader".

With Serrell as its Executive Director, TBG is poised for its most exciting year yet and will realize extensive growth in its education and production capacities. In just the next six months, TBG will offer weekend acting workshops across the world - from India this November to Los Angeles, California to Boston, Massachusetts. TBG's highly popular youth curriculum will expand for the first time to offer satellite locations in Brooklyn, New York and Greenwich, Connecticut. By early 2015, Seth Barrish's invaluable book, An Actor's Companion, will be re-published by Theatre Communication Group with a forward by former student and Oscar winner Anne Hathaway, and TBG will host a MainStage production of The Pavilion in the spring.

Co-Artistic Directors, Lee Brock and Seth Barrish, said, "With Robert Serrell as Executive Director, TBG has an unlimited ability to impact the acting community. Robert understands who we are, what sets us apart from others, and has repeatedly demonstrated the passion and skill to get things done. We greatly look forward to working with Robert as we move into our third decade."

Board President, David Diamond, added: "We are excited about having Robert in this new position. He brings fresh thinking and a deep understanding of how artists can be served best in a supported, well-funded environment."
According to Serrell, "TBG is an inspiring community of teachers and artists who have developed one of the top actor training programs in world. They have an impressive history of award-winning theatrical productions, workshops and readings and I am honored to be asked to continue my work with them in this capacity. I look forward to partnering with the School, Company, board and staff to chart a course for the future."
