INTO THE WOODS

Southwest

1. Dallas, TX: Editor Kyle West reviews INTO THE WOODS at Firehouse Theatre (playing through May 3rd). He says, "As The Baker's Wife, Elisa Danielle James steals the show with her comedic timing. Returning to The Firehouse Theatre after a triumphant performance in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, Ms. James proves charming, not only as a comedic actress, but as a versatile storyteller with an astonishing voice." Read more about this stunning production here.

2. Austin, TX: Editor Wendy Reichstein reviews ANNIE at Bass Concert Hall in Austin. She says, "The highlight of the production, however, is undoubtedly Andrews' portrayal of Miss Hannigan. Her comedic timing, character acting, and on-stage personality steal the entire the show, hands down. Her rendition "Little Girls" rivals both Katie Finneran's and Jane Lynch's, who both recently performed in the role on Broadway." Read her full review here.

Midwest

3. Milwaukee, WI: Editor Peggy Sue Dunigan recaps The Rep's Artistic Intern Ensemble's 5th Anniversary of Short Play Festival. She reports, "Throughout the seven plays created by the Artistic Ensemble, the Stiemke Studio remained in the original angular configuration from the previous production and glowed with future talent. In a clever sci-fi drama, "Tape," one tormented man rewinds and listens to all the lies he told in his life, a punishment in the hereafter, the meaning revealed near the end of the piece." THE CRUCIBLE

4. Minneapolis, MN: Editor Jill Schafter reviews THE CRUCIBLE playing at Guthrie Theatre through May 24th. She offers a stunning review of the production, saying, "It's not to be missed!" and "The Guthrie's grand production of this classic with a cast chock-full of talent is truly something to behold. It's long and intense, but somehow the nearly three hours didn't feel long to me; I was engaged every minute by this compelling story and these beautifully flawed and human characters." 5. St. Louis, MO: Senior Editor Chris Gibson reviews THE RIME OF THE ANCIENT MARINER by Upstream Theater. Offering an excellent assessment, he says, "I brought my nine year old along with me so that he could experience this wonderful classic for the first time. And, what he saw was an absolutely amazing production, adapted by Siler with original music composed and performed by Sleepy Kitty. What a great introduction to a timeless piece. From the excellent musical accompaniment, which was simply beyond cool, to the projected images of Gustave Dore's original wood-engraved illustrations, to the fabulous performance of the cast, this was a presentation that was truly special in every sense of the word." Read his full review here.

6. Omaha, NE: Editor Christine Swerczek reviews I HATE HAMLET at the Omaha Community Playhouse. She says, "Scenic and lighting designer Jim Othuse captures Barrymore's opulent residence much as it has been described. Stucco walls, stained glass windows, heavy beamed ceilings, and Moroccan doorways collide with the modern world orange, pea green, and turquoise furnishings. There is old and new. There is order and chaos." Read more here.

TWELFTH NIGHT

West Coast:

7. Portland, OR: Another excellent review, Editor Krista Garver reports on TWELFTH NIGHT at Post5. She says, "This production, exquisitely directed by Cassandra Boice, is fresh and funny, and full of compassion for the follies and foibles that make us all human, especially when we're in love."
