The Manhattan Theatre Source (177 MacDougal St.) will serve up a revival of the 1982 hit Pump Boys and Dinettes. The show will begin performances on May 10th and open on May 13th. It will play through May 27th.

The show, which lacks a book and is a fusion of musical comedy and revue, features an array of colorful characters--the diner waitresses and grease monkeys of the title--living along Route 57 in the South. Conceived and written by original stars John Foley, Mark Hardwick, Debra Monk (Show People), Cass Morgan (Ring of Fire), John Schimmel, and Jim Wann, the new production is directed by Adam Gerdts and Laura Standley, and features Franklin Golden, Amy Heidt, Michael Hicks, Zeb Holt, Kate Middleton, and Mitch Rothrock.

The show will feature a raffle as well as intermission refreshments served by the dinettes.

Pump Boys and Dinettes--which has become a staple of regional theatre--opened on Broadway on February 4th, 1982 and ran for 573 performances; it received a Tony Award nomination for Best Musical.

The performance schedule is Wednesday–Fridays at 8 PM and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 PM. Tickets, which are $18, can be purchased by calling Theatermania.com at (212) 352-3101 or visiting www.groundupproductions.org.
