Variety recently reported that FOX has picked up 13 episodes of the hourlong comedy from "Nip/Tuck" creator Ryan Murphy. Fox hopes to schedule the show -- which is set in the world of high school glee clubs -- as soon as this spring, in order to take advantage of the "American Idol" lead in reports the entertainment publication.

Press notes state, "The hourlong comedy "Glee," from 20th TV, centers on Will (Morrison), a thirtysomething Spanish teacher at an Ohio high school who has the daunting task of taking over the school's glee club, which has become a haven for outcasts. Michele will play the club's self-obsessed star female singer."

The show will reportedly feature at least four musical numbers per episode.

Lea Michele starred on Broadway in Spring Awakening as Wendla, receiving a 2007 Drama Desk Award nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Musical. She most recently appeared as Eponine in the Hollywood Bowl's Les Miserables in Concert. She also performed in Fiddler On The Roof (Shprintze and Chava), Ragtime (Little Girl) and Les Miserables (Young Cosette). Off Broadway she appeared in Hot and Sweet (Naleen) and Spring Awakening (Wendla). Her regional credits include The Diary of Anne Frank (Anne) at Round House Theater, Ragtime (Little Girl) at Toronto's Ford Center. In workshop productions, she was seen in Samson and Delilah (Delilah), King (Anisette), Spring Awakening (Wendla) and Wuthering Heights (Lucy).  Her TV credits include "The Big Ten," "Third Watch," and "Guiding Light."

Matthew Morrison recently returned to Lincoln Center Theater in South Pacific. It was at Lincoln where he created the role of Fabrizio in the musical The Light in the Piazza, for which he was also nominated for a Tony Award.  His other Broadway credits include A Naked Girl on the Appian Way, Hairspray, The Rocky Horror Show and Footloose.  He appeared off-Broadway last summer in the musical 10 Million Miles at the Atlantic Theatre Company.  His TV and film credits include Dan In Real Life, Marci X, Primary Colors, Numb3rs, Ghost Whisperer, CSI:Miami, Law & Order: Criminal Intent and Once Upon A Mattress.
