For its 9th season, Young Shakespeare, Austin Shakespeare's teen company, will transform Richard Garriott de Cayeux's outdoor Curtain Theater (7400 Coldwater Canyon Drive) into the Forest of Arden for a production of the romantic comedy As You Like It. Featuring auditioned actors performing Shakespeare's beautiful poetry, As You Like It will run Thursdays through Sundays at 8 pm, tonight, June 15, through June 25, 2017. BroadwayWorld has a first look at the cast in action below!

"All the world's a stage" in As You Like It, one of Shakespeare's most popular and rollicking comedies. When the fascinating heroine Rosalind is banished to a magical forest-disguised as a boy and with her cousin in tow-she seeks only refuge from her uncle's wrath. Her unfortunate exile is transformed into a charming adventure when she encounters other expatriates, quick-tongued fools, and the handsome, lovesick Orlando. As You Like It has everything you love about Shakespeare: mistaken identities, characters in love with the "wrong" person, peril, chance encounters and, of course, a wedding.

This is Young Shakespeare's ninth year in action. Participating students, ranging in age from 12-19 years, come from throughout the Central Texas area, including Round Rock, Pflugerville, Austin, Westlake and Waco, among other places. The young company includes students or recent graduates of Austin High School, Westwood High School, Anderson High School, Meridian World School, Liberal Arts and Science Academy, James Bowie High School, St. Edward's Episcopal School, and St. Dominic Savio Catholic High School. As You Like It will be directed by Austin Shakespeare's Artistic Director Ann Ciccolella and trained by professional coaches and designers, including Assistant Director Helen merino and Movement and Vocal Coach Nancy Eyermann.

"Teen actors bring a fresh approach to Shakespeare that livens the text with risk-taking that only adolescence can bring," says director Ann Ciccolella, "I love working with these young actors as they sharpen their skills-making this beautiful romantic comedy clear to adults and even to younger children. Plus, Rosalind and Orlando's deliciously suspenseful romance is one of my favorites of any play ever!"

Tickets range from $13 - $18 and are on sale at www.eventbrite.com/e/young-shakespeare-as-you-like-it-tickets-34216496462?aff=es2. Early bird pricing will expire on Thursday, June 15.
